Meizu MX5 and Huawei Honor 7

Meizu MX5 and Huawei Honor 7 held the launch event at the same day. From two conferences, the two phones generally are equal from appearance, configuration and price. For consumers, they will face a choice dilemma: Which one do you choose?

As for me, I prefer Huawei Honor 7, compared the Meizu MX5 with MTK6795T processor. Huawei Honor 7 carries with their Kirin 935 processor, which will be better in terms of performance. On the other hand, Honor 7 supports up to 128GB expansion.

When it comes to connectivity, the phone is loaded – with NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4-5Ghz), Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS, GSM, WCDMA and LTE radios, with bands depending on the region. All that jazz is backed up by a 3100mAh battery pack that offers a quick charging option to juice it up from zero to hero for 1 hour and 25 minutes only, or you can get to 50% of charge for just half an hour.

The Honor 7 variations differ in connectivity and storage only, with a basic 16 GB model with LTE radio, then one with a dual SIM dual-standby LTE abilities.

The most basic one has 16 GB and only on SIM card slot and goes for around $320. The 16 GB dual SIM variant is only slightly more expensive at $355. At the very top is the 64 GB model that costs roughly $400. All configurations support LTE, with bands differing on market.

Meizu MX5- All Metal +AMOLED

Meizu MX5 and Huawei Honor 7

Meizu MX5 gets a larger 5.5″ AMOLED screen that does a more conventional Full HD resolution of 1920×1080.

The MX5 now comes with a metal unibody design which is more sturdy compared to the current MX4 that has a removable plastic back cover.

Under the hood, it gets a MediaTek Helio X10 2.2GHz Octa-Core processor that’s mated to 3GB of LPDDR 3 RAM, similar to the HTC One M9+. With the absence of a removable back cover, the sides feature a flush tray slot that holds two SIM cards with both supporting 4G LTE. Like its predecessor, there’s no microSD expansion slot available. Keeping its lights on is a 3,150mAh capacity battery and it supports fast charging as well. Meizu claims that the MX5 can be juiced up to 25% in 10 minutes and up to 60% in 40 minutes.

The main camera appears to be unchanged from its predecessor with a 20.7MP f/2.2 main camera with twin LED lights but this time it is improved with a 6 element lens and a new laser auto focus element that’s similar to the LG G3. This allows the MX5 to focus quicker at a claimed 0.2 seconds. For better selfies, the front gets a 5MP f/2.0 camera that’s enhanced with smart selfie features. Out of the box, it runs on Flyme 4.5 which is a heavily skinned UI based on Android which is radically different from other devices.

The Meizu MX5 comes in 3 storage capacities with the base 16GB model priced at 1,799 CNY (about RM1,093). Meanwhile the 32GB and 64GB models are priced at 1,999 CNY (about RM1,215) and 2,399 CNY (about RM1,458) respectively.

Meizu MX5 vs Huawei Honor 7

Compared with Meizu MX5, Huawei Honor 7 has lots of higtlights. Firstly, the Kirin 935 processor wins the MTK. Secondly, the using of LTE radio is the other higtlight. Additional, the design ofquick charging technology is enough to compare with Meizu MX5. On the other hand, Honor 7 supports up to 128GB expansion. The Meizu MX5 does not support Dual Simcards Dual Stanby. However, Huawei Honor 7 support Dual Simcard.

In my opinion, Honor 7 has lots of surprisingly high specs.
